PALS – Initial Course (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Approximately a 16 hour course designed for healthcare providers who initiate or direct advanced pediatric care, beyond basic life support, either in or out of the hospital. Course work focuses on the identification and treatment of medical conditions contributing to pediatric cardiac arrest; recognition and management of a child in respiratory distress or failure and/or compensated or hypotensive shock; recognition and management of bradyarrhythmia, tachyarrhythmia and arrest rhythms; assessment and treatment of the seriously ill or injured child. Upon successful course completion, with a passing score on the written exam, students receive a PALS Provider certification card valid for two years.
