Approximately a 6 – 8 hour course designed for students who are currently PALS and BLS certified. Course work contains obligatory AHA lectures and reviews BLS CPR; the identification and treatment of medical conditions contributing to pediatric cardiac arrest; recognition and management of a child in respiratory distress or failure and/or compensated or hypotensive shock; recognition and management of bradyarrhythmia, tachyarrhythmia and arrest rhythms; assessment and treatment of the seriously ill or injured child. Upon course completion, with a passing score on the written exam and successful completion of the skills evaluations, students receive a PALS Provider certification card valid for two years.
