The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone around the globe and staying healthy and safe from contracting the virus has been particularly important for all. Eating healthy is a key role in staying healthy and with many forced to do our cooking for almost every meal, it is key that you eat right to keep your immune system in top condition. Here are some simple tips you can follow to stay on the healthy track during the pandemic.

  • Shopping – Plan your meals, minimize trips, and exposure at the supermarket. Before you go to the store plan ahead. Make a shopping list and use it. Shop for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 5 days. Make a list of what you will prepare, and the items you will need to make those meals. Think nutrition, the healthiest meals emphasize whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. Meat portions can be smaller it can save money and help keep dietary saturated fat in check.
  • Eat out safely during the Coronavirus – Be aware and follow your area guidelines for eating out during the pandemic. Practice physical distancing, wash your hands before eating, wear a face mask or covering and removed it only when you are eating or drinking. Avoid junk food and fast-food restaurants if possible, it is fine occasionally. If possible, limit your exposure by carrying food out, curbside pickup, or even better have it delivered. The highest risk is on-site dining indoor and outdoor seating.

Be smart about what you eat even after the COVID-10 pandemic. The key is to make small changes like eating one more serving of fruits and vegetables each day. Skip that high sugar snack or dessert and eat healthier it will save your life in the long run.
