At Rescue One Training for Life, Inc., we believe every person can be a lifesaver, and now, we’re thrilled to announce that our very own founder, Jeremy Gruber, has been appointed Chair of the 2025 American Heart Association Greater Maryland Heart Walk.

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s flagship event, uniting thousands of people across the region for one powerful cause: to combat heart disease and stroke, and to celebrate life. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Camden Yards Sports Complex in Baltimore, and we couldn’t be prouder to see Jeremy leading the charge.

“The Heart Walk gives Marylanders an extraordinary opportunity to address a critical issue in our community,” said Dr. Seth Martin, a cardiologist with Johns Hopkins Medicine, past chair of the Heart Walk, and immediate past president of the American Heart Association Greater Maryland Board of Directors. “Cardiac arrest can strike anyone, anywhere, and the difference between life and death often hinges on the quick actions of a bystander.”

A Lifelong Mission to Save Lives

With more than four decades of experience in emergency training and public health advocacy, Jeremy Gruber brings personal passion and professional leadership to the American Heart Association’s mission. Since its founding, Rescue One Training for Life, Inc., headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland, has trained hundreds of thousands of individuals nationwide and in the D.C. metro area in CPR, AED use, and other life-saving interventions.

“I’m honored to serve as Chair for the 2025 Greater Maryland Heart Walk,” said Gruber. “As someone who has spent my career teaching others how to save lives, this opportunity allows me to expand that impact in an even greater way. Together, we can inspire our community to be heart-healthy, aware, and prepared.”

Jeremy co-founded Rescue One with business partner Catherine Gruber, who now serves as President and CEO. Together, they’ve built Rescue One into a nationally recognized leader in AED program management and emergency preparedness training.

The success of Rescue One is deeply rooted in the dedication and longevity of its team. Many employees have been with the company for over a decade, with several contributing more than fifteen years of service, a testament to the loyalty, experience, and trust that clients consistently depend on. Today, Rescue One employs more than forty individuals, including skilled technicians who maintain and support thousands of AEDs across the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region, and well beyond.

Nationally, Rescue One serves numerous Federal Government agencies, providing AED equipment, training, and comprehensive program support from coast to coast. The company’s network of a multitude of certified instructors, comprising a mix of full-time staff and seasoned contractors, has trained hundreds of thousands of people over the past thirty years.

As new AED legislation and regulations continue to emerge across the U.S., Rescue One is leading the way in helping schools, businesses, and institutions adapt through expert implementation, training, and compliance services. From placing AEDs in high-traffic public areas to promoting hands-on CPR training, the company’s commitment to emergency preparedness has had a lasting impact nationwide.

“Through the Heart Walk, we are not just raising funds; we are raising awareness, enhancing CPR training, and building a network of lifesavers throughout our region,” Dr. Martin added. “With Jeremy Gruber at the helm, we are confident this year’s campaign will have an even greater impact in saving lives.”

Jeremy Gruber’s appointment as Chair of the 2025 Greater Maryland Heart Walk is a reflection of that lifelong mission to build safer, stronger, and more heart-ready communities across the country.
